The last two hours of work were killer. My head is so blocked! The pressure has been making me light headed! It's terrible. If I close my eyes or lean forward it feels worse. Yuk yuk yuk yuk....

I wish I could completely clear out my sinus cavities.

Egypt

So I'm seriously thinking about Egypt. I have 4 brochures on me... All crap-Tour companies suck! Why doesn't anyone go to Abydos or the Fayum Oasis?? Nothing really gives you any info about doing Egypt without a tour which I am! I didn't study Egyptology to go to Egypt and be cramped on a bus/ plane/ train/ boat with ignorant tourists! I might have to email Todd at Uni and get his opinion. He would know since he goes every year! I wanted to buy theEgypt lonely planet guide but no store has it in stock! It would help a lot right now. I want to plan everything precisely! I've never been overseas before.... A lot of planning seems to be required. Egypt is my dream destination... I want my trip to be perfect! Firstly I'll need to find someone to go with.

If I do consult Todd- maybe I could volunteer on the excavations ;)

There is a mouse in my room. He's been bugging me lately. Keeping me up all night crawling over all the furniture (including one night on my bed). He keeps me up because I'm scared he will crawl on the bed again! He could, I just saw him crawl up the bedside cupboard (which I've pushed away from my bed) I don't think he's afraid of me anymore. I also named him George!

It's getting really cold here at night. I checked the weather on the bus and it said it was 8 degrees! My hands feel frozen. When it gets cold my joints play up.

I don't have warm enough shirts for work. They're all short sleaves. I have two vests to wear with my blouses but I only have 3! Looks like I need to invest in opaque rights and 1 or 2 longer shirts. I'll wait till tomorrow to see if Target are having a sale on womens clothes. Not many other places to shop here. I need a new wallet too- mines looking grubby. It has Egyptian hieroglyphs on it in gold but the gold has come off and it now looks tacky!

Memoirs of a Geisha

When I first saw Memoirs of a Geisha I remember I was bored because the film was taking too long. This afternoon I re-watched it and I was surprised to find that I loved it so much. Why? Probably because I am currently reading the book. I believe it may even be my all time favourite book. Everytime I pick it up to read I am always amazed at how beautifully written the book is. It's absolutely incredible. I am constantly entranced by the way the author tells the story and always absorbed in the story.

While reading the book and after re-watching the film I would really like to go to Japan.

If you haven't read the book- read it. If you hated the film, read the book and then you will appreciate it much more.

So more updates.

Today I finished a two day Apply First Aid course with St John Ambulance. So now I'm a qualified first aider :)
Also I have a job interview tomorrow with the Mbantua Gallery and another job interview with Katies on Thrusday. Yaah!
My brother Bully is going to Tennant Creek on Thursday for a funeral so we're going to organise to have some of my stuff sent down with him.

180 dead from the Victoria bush fires. Please note that most of these fires in the Gippsland were deliberately lit. It's so heart breaking. I can barely watch it on tv or read about it in the paper without feeling like crying. Our Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said it's a mass murder. I happen to agree with him.

So I'm finally up to date with what's happening in VIC. I've spoken to mum too. She's finally turned off the tv because she can't take it anymore. 26 dead already. Two towns completely destroyed. People in VIC are saying it's worse than Ash Wednesday.

At the moment Australia is facing some wild weather conditions. There is complete flooding in North Queensland, there was flooding in Tennant while I was there which hasn't happened in over 20 years, Victoria is being ravaged by deadly bushfires, NSW is going through a heat wave and is now bracing for extreme bush fire conditions. Not to mention that VIC is experiencing extreme heat as well.

I have no idea what to think.

It will be nice when I can post something profound instead of whining about my future plans.
I think I have it all figured out. I might go to Alice Springs for a few days which will help me feel a part of civilization again.
My cousin Bully (who in aboriginal way is kinda my brother) will be arriving from Alice today. I don't know how long he'll be here but I'm going to ask if I can catch a ride to Alice with him and hopefully stay at his place since he isn't at the mines anymore.
I mentioned I broke my iphone. I sent it in express post today however Tennant Creek is outside the next day delivery route. I'm thinking it will be at least a month before I actually get it back. I went searching for a new phone (one which isn't on the Telstra network) but this town is fresh out of pre-paid phones... sersiouly. So if I got to Alice Springs I'll get a new one there to use until I get my iphone back. I'm seriously thinking about getting an ipod shuffle. Maybe later when I don't need to buy a new phone.

Hopefully next time I come into the internet cafe I won't need to do other future planning stuff so I can catch up on what is going on with everyone. I did notice a lot of my lj friends in the US are battling snow and some lj friends in the South of Australia are battling a heatwave. My thoughts are with you all. Keep warm and keep cool.
